The challenge
AI teams work across editors, terminals, design tools, and native applications. The context that makes a design coherent can disappear between those surfaces. Bigger prompts alone do not solve that coordination problem.
Memi explores a more durable foundation: a shared design memory that tools and people can inspect, carry forward, and act on.
The approach
Treat context as part of the product. The system connects a command-line interface, MCP integrations, and a native workbench around a common design vocabulary.
The interface makes otherwise hidden activity understandable: which model is running, whether the environment is ready, what a tool did, and where a person can review the next action.
Design decisions
- Make state visible. Readiness and run controls belong beside the work, where they inform the next decision.
- Make actions reviewable. Tool traces give people a way to understand what happened.
- Connect the surfaces. A consistent design vocabulary helps the terminal and workbench read as one system.
What came together
A product that joins AI infrastructure with interface craft. Memi demonstrates how design and engineering can make complex tools more understandable, with clear controls and a shared source of context.
